Waxing is a procedure that aims to detach each strand of unwanted hair from it's root leaving the skin silky smooth for a period of time. When performed by a specialist wax technician the results are long lasting and free from adverse effects.
It is expected that certain conditions affect the results. Hair too short often leaves a percentage of hair beneath the skin's upper layer causing hair to resurface sooner than would be desired. We recommend growth is not trimmed, tweezed or clipped during the fortnight before a wax procedure. Dry skin should be gently treated with an exfoliant mit the day before waxing and moisture lotions should not be applied on the day of treatment. It is important to shower on the morning of treatment as bathing the area should be avoided for the remainder of the day. Avoid anti-perspirant products both before and after underarm waxing. Refrain from sunbathing, sunbeds, sauna, jacuzzi, steam, swimming, sex and exercise both before and after your wax session as increased body temperature brings moisture into the layers of skin. Perspiration is a contra-indication to waxing which can result in minor injury to the skin tissues and delay recovery. A choice of wax techniques are available with strip waxing being the most popular and non-strip being favoured by those with a more delicate or sensitive skin type. It is very important, also, to mention all past and present medication as Accutane based medicines, for example, are well known for causing long-term adverse effects when combined with excessive exfoliation such as waxing Aloe vera post care products are highly recommended although any non perfumed cooling/healing gel, sudocrem and calamine lotion works just as well.
