Waxing is primarily performed on those seeking liberation from the daily ritual of removing body hair. The benefits, however, are two-fold because waxing doesn't just rid you of undesirable hair growth! Waxing also offers superb rejuvenating effects, through exfoliation, brightening even the dullest-dry-dehydrated skin types. In areas where hair is particularly course, waxing eliminates the 'regrowth itch' associated with depilatory creams whilst shaving 'rash' and 'nicks' are history!
Ingrown hairs, possibly the most annoying and quite often painful side effect of epilator use, cannot form if hair is waxed using correct techniques. Performed by a specialist wax technician, the experience is far from painful and always free from adverse effects like ingrown hairs. The long lasting results are silky smooth, stubble-free skin that is then ready to soak up all kinds of delectable skin foods. In order to obtain the wholesome benefits of this popular procedure, it's essential our clients understand the pitfalls of waxing and follow the guidelines listed below.
Hair too short (when waxed) leaves a percentage of stubble just beneath the skin's uppermost layer. This untreated hair will resurface sooner than desired therefore we recommend growth is not shaven, scissored, tweezed or clippered for at least a fortnight before a wax procedure. If you are new to waxing (or have Due to the exfoliating nature of this treatment, we're also unable to wax an area that has been waxed within the previous 3 weeks. Tan products may be used 48 hours after a wax session although not during the week before your wax treatment. Best practise is to plan your sessions around upcoming events such as holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. Always schedule your appointment 48 hours ahead of an important event or simply coincide regular monthly sessions with payday etc.
Dry skin may be treated with a gentle exfoliant, the day before waxing, but remember that moisture lotions should not be applied on the day of treatment. It is important to shower the morning of procedure because bathing should be avoided for the remainder of the day. Complimentary freshening products are provided so that you are never concerned about receiving treatment at the end of a long day! Avoid moisturising anti-perspirants before underarm waxing. We apply post wax lotions immediately afterwards
Refrain from physical exertion, sunbathing, sunbeds, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming, steam baths, etc both before and after your wax session as raised body temperature causes perspiration and increased blood flow to the epidermis. Perspiration is a contra-indication to waxing and can provoke injury. It can also delay recovery and unnecessarily increase downtime. Waxing can be performed during menstruation and also on expectant women however your therapists needs to be made fully aware in advance. Ladies with body piercings, scar tissue or those who have recently undergone a body art procedure must, for obvious reasons, inform us in advance if located in the area to be waxed, particularly if covered by hair

Pre-treatment patch testing is only necessary when it is known that the skin is sensitive to heat, rosin or sticking plasters. It is very important, also, to mention all past and present medication as Accutane based medicines, for example, are well known for causing long-term adverse effects when combined with excessive exfoliation such as waxing
Aloe vera post care products are highly recommended although any non perfumed cooling/healing/barrier gel, E45, sudocrem and calamine lotion work just as well. Fresh cotton clothing should be brought along and worn immediately after waxing. This is because dead skin cells, clinging to previously worn (clean) garments, introduce bacteria into the skin once the aftercare product has fully penetrated. If infection occurs we recommend tea tree antibacteriacidel products.
Our 24-hour text helpline can provide general aftercare advice however it is your GP you should contact in the event of extreme adverse reactions *for advice, text HELP to 0777 955 7000*
